Tiny trim can make such a difference in your life. These little babies are not even 7" long and cost less than $3 but they pack a heavy design punch
.
For design reasons unknown, the cabinets in this kitchen were suppose to appear to be floating under the bulkhead. What this means is there is a good 1.5" gap below the soffit. It makes the soffit look all the more like a soffit.
I realized that this gap needs to be filled before I make the soffit bend with the cabinets.
I bought some door jam trim and some fancy quarter round. I attached the trim to the side of the door jamb and viola, we have a gap filler with some flair. Even bigger bonus, its preprimed!
I screwed in into the bottom of the bulk head with some drywall screws. The only bonus of the bulk head is that it is framed which means that you can throw screws into it pretty much anywhere and hit solid wood.
Even in this half done state, you can see how much more purposeful that bulkhead is looking. It blends so much better and looks like it was part of the millwork. I think it highlights my 9' ceilings instead of looking like the builder cheaped out and built a soffit to extend the cabinets.
So what do you think?
